The Senior Correctional Center (SCC) in Accra last Wednesday held a prayer and worship session aimed at fostering stronger peaceful relations between inmates and prison officers.
Encapsulated with an undiluted atmosphere of divine overflow, officers and inmates worshipped to the throne of God at the prison yard.
Organised under the auspices of Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Millicent Owusu, Officer-In-Charge (OIC) at SCC, the occasion was dubbed “Fellowship in Unity; means to peaceful co-existence between officers and inmates”.
In reverence to the peaceful relationship between officers and inmates,
DDP Owusu underscored the need for harmonious co-existence among them in the yard.
Highlighting on the need for the joint fellowship, the OIC observed that it was a day of divine visitation and fellowship to commune in the Lord.
Stressing that, the fellowship is to bring restitution to inmates which aligns with Jesus’ resurrection.
In a fervent prayer, DDP Owusu reiterated that “may God visit them while they are in incarceration, adding that God turn everything in their life around for good”.
Furtherance in prayer, she petitioned God to replace their fears with faith, and despair with hope.
In an exclusive interview, she wholeheartedly said “may God who stilled the roaring of the sea, still the disturbances of their heart as they worship the Lord in the yard.
Interspersed with a charged atmosphere of praise and worship, there was an inter-dormitory competition among all the dormitories in the yard namely, Monica, Aquinas, Andrews, Christopher, Peter, Mark, John and Aggrey.
DDP Owusu commended all officers and inmates for participating in such a godly encounter and praised the Chaplaincy unit at SCC for a good coordination of the occasion.
In relation with religious diversity, a Muslim prayer and benediction was said by Superintendent Abass Bio Samah to climax the praise and worship.
