On September 28, 2024, the Tema Greenwich Lions Club, in collaboration with the Accra Ubuntu Lions Club, donated 3,000 branded visibility vests to the Tema Regional MTTD Police. The handover took place at the Tema Regional MTTD premises as part of the Lions’ ongoing commitment to enhance road safety and support the police in their efforts to combat crime.
This donation is a key part of the clubs’ initiative to raise safety awareness and provide essential equipment to law enforcement agencies. The vests will not only increase the visibility of MTTD officers but also improve their operational effectiveness. The initiative was further complemented by a safety awareness campaign conducted from the Tema Regional MTTD office to the Tema Community 1 Lorry Station, where drivers were educated on the importance of adhering to road safety rules and taking precautionary measures.
Lion Mawutor Djrakey, President of the Tema Greenwich Lions Club, highlighted the critical role of community support in helping the police, especially the MTTD, ensure road safety and compliance. Similarly, Lion Naomi Adjeley Anang, Marketing Chairperson of the Accra Ubuntu Lions Club, stressed the importance of safety awareness campaigns in promoting public safety and discipline.
During the event, Lion Rosina Owusua Amponsah, the Chairperson for the Donation Activity Committee, emphasized the significance of safety awareness in reducing crime and enhancing community well-being. She commended the police for their dedication and urged continued collaboration to maintain safety on the roads.
The officers of the Tema Regional MTTD expressed their gratitude for the donation and praised the Lions Clubs for their support, calling for more initiatives to help strengthen their efforts.
