President John Dramani Mahama has ordered that all government appointees forfeit three months of their salary if they do not declare their assets by the deadline of March 31, 2025.
On the other hand, the President has granted a brief respite and set a new deadline for Wednesday, May 7, 2025.If an appointee does not meet this new deadline, they should be fired.
On Monday, May 5, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama issued a new code of conduct for all government appointees, which included the directive.
The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, posted on X that “any appointees who do not register their assets by March 31, 2025, would forfeit four months’ pay and are required to make a matching gift to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.”
Three of the four months are devoted to failing to report assets by the March 31 deadline, and one month is devoted to contributions to the MahamaCares Medical Fund.
Any officer who does not comply by the end of Tuesday, May 6, “stands immediately fired,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu continued.
