It was an irresistible flame of ecstatic moments at the 5th Lions District 418 Convention where Accra Ubuntu Lions Club became the toast of the convention by sweeping several awards.
The 5th District Convention, which was recently held in Kumasi, witnessed the Accra Ubuntu Lions Club rising to an unprecedented height in the 3 and half year history as a result of all their service year activities which culminated in adding up to their host of laurels.
Under the able leadership of the president Lion Isaac Rexford Maduku, the club has achieved all its lofty goals set at the beginning of the Lions service year culminating in the recognition received through the awards.
The Accra Ubuntu Lions Club received awards in the following categories:
- Best District 418 Club in Service 2023-2024
- Best District 418 Club in Leadership 2023-2024
- Best District 418 Club in Marketing 2023-2024
- 2nd Best District 418 Overall Club 2023-2024
- Lions International Club Excellence Award 2022-2023
Carving a niche for his tenure, Lion Maduku with remarkable expertise, managed the affairs of the club with his executives to embark on impactful activities that benefited humanity across the country.
These impactful services highlighted on health and wellness by placing more emphasis on vision among other health conditions, the club supported the needy through humanitarian interventions and fostering peace and harmony.
Lion Maduku, after receiving the award for the overall 2nd best club, expressed innermost heartfelt gratitude to all members and executives for collectively working together in ensuring this sterling feat achieved by club possible.
On receiving the Leadership award on behalf of the club, Lion Edwina Safee-Boafo, MJF, the incoming president and the Leadership Committee Chairperson commended the hardwork, dedication and consistent efforts of her committee to culminate in the annexing of the Leadership award by the club for the 4th consecutive time.
She applauded the willingness of club members to work with her committee to achieve this feat. She pledged to ensure that club will continue to soar under her leadership in the coming service year with the support of club members.
Lion Diane Zukowski, MJF who is the Marketing Committee Chairperson received the Marketing Award on behalf of the club. She praised her phenomenal marketing team members for always putting up their extraordinary expertise on board to make Accra Ubuntu Lions Club shine brighter and make Lions Club International visible to Ghana, Africa and the world at large.
She lauded the club’s performance over the years by describing it as a scintillating yardstick for the club’s growth and making Accra Ubuntu Lions Club a strong formidable Lion club over all other club.
The District 418 Governor, Lion Kate Baaba Hudson, PMJF expressed her heartfelt appreciations to all Lions in the district for their enthusiastic participation in the 5th District Convention in Kumasi and also to the clubs for their commitment and support during her tenure.
Lion Kate Baaba Hudson singled out a few individuals for special mention and recognition at the district convention for their distinguished efforts in supporting her activities.
One such individual was Lion Naomi Naa Adjeley Anang the club’s incoming Marketing Chairperson and current Leo Club advisor whose stellar work as Accra Ubuntu’s New Voices envoy to the District New Voices Chairperson’s committee was specially recognised. She was also recognised for sponsoring the highest number of Leo club members to the Emerging Lions Leaders Institute (ELLI) in the district.
In presenting her special District Governor’s pin to Lion Naomi, she said.. “Your commitment to service and your invaluable contributions have been crucial in our District’s growth and success”.
Other special recognitions for Accra Ubuntu members at the District convention are as follows
- Lion Edwina Safee-Boafo, MJF was presented with her Melvin Jones Fellowship plaque and pin in recognition of her generous donation of $1000.00 to the Lions Club International Foundation(LCIF) to empower global service activities all over the world.
- Lion PZC Seyram Freddy Ahiabor recognised with the Zone Chairperson Excellence Award for his spectacular work as Zone 5 Chairperson in 2022-2023 Lions Service Year.
- Lion Dr. Seth Tele Hassan a Club Director was also recognized as the resource person who took the Leo Club members through a talk on Stress and its Management at the Convention.
- Lion Bright Sena Tse for his contributions to the Lions Club International Foundation(LCIF) to empower global service activities all over the world.
The club President Lion Isaac Rexford Maduku while shedding light on the service year (July 2023- June 2024), commended the club for its tremendous efforts in chalking a successful year with more laurels, and admonished all members to continually serve with more dedication in unity to ensure that the club attains even higher heights in the coming service years.
